Mythos: a television show

Technology had advanced greatly on earth. But after World War 4, most of the images of our once great and advanced civilization have been diminished and worn. Tall skyscrapers, advanced transportation vehicles, new schools, and sleek luxuries were abandoned as countries poured countless resources into war. By the time the war was over and peace was found, there was very little left of this once decadent past. Education was down the hole, soldiers were returning home with no jobs to be found, and the entire world's economy collapsed without any war to fund it. The world slowly put itself together but even after all that suffering--history would prove, once again, that it can repeat itself.

It was almost two decades after World War 4 when whispers of a 5th World War began to ripple through the minds and hearts of many. Countries still unstable from the last war and superpowers fighting over what they could, started to create tensions all too familiar to the rest of the world. But this time--the US government would take extra steps to prepare themselves--to ensure a victory over a truce or defeat. No country had lost more than them and yet they were still ready to fight--at least the US government was. And they weren't going to do it openly or through their usual traditional means. So before there was even a war to fight, the government began to prepare.

A government project was created code-named the Mythos Project. Seemingly ordinary people and soldiers were put through genetic enhancement and neurological alteration to become Myths. Myths were designed in pairs for different purposes to ultimately help fight in the war in their own...unique ways. Elite leaders, assassins, seducers, hypnotists, fighters, and masters of destruction--each pair would have powers to quietly and effectively infiltrate and defeat their enemy in ways never seen before. Every country had nukes and weapons but nobody had the science and secrecy that was driving the American government's strategy to win the coming war. And the war would come. And it came when a bomb was dropped on New York City, killing everyone in the city instantly and initiating World War 5.

But one person and one person only managed to survive that bomb. It was a girl, a young girl named Sylvia. She would be the last person recruited into the Mythos project and become the most powerful Myth of them all. The government came for her when they found out she was the sole survivor of that nuclear bomb. They would discover her natural genetic make-up allowed her to absorb huge amounts of energy and with the proper genetic manipulation they hoped she could not only harness energy but use it offensively. And their dream of the perfect human bomb would be their ultimate undoing. The Mythos, Sylvia, re-named Chaos fought back against those who had created her and destroyed the Mythos facility and any who dared try to stop her. On that fateful day, in the middle of a war, many Myths at the facility escaped as most of the men in charge were killed. Nobody knows how many survived or died that day. And the Myths have scattered into the real world without anyone left to give them orders. But would the government so easily forget those they had created? Could the war be won without the Myths? And what would enhanced killing machines do with all their new-found freedom? Only time would tell.

Joshua & Hannah

Sacred to the sun, and a valiant hero, the griffin will never yield to his enemies and is a symbol of strength, vigilance, watchfulness, courage, perseverance, and swiftness of execution.

Myths were altered to each have their own unique abilities. They were trained to carry out their orders and some were conditioned to the point of emptiness. Most barely resemble their former selves and a few have forgotten what its like to be human. It's what made the other Myths good at what they do. But the Gryffins were trained for another purpose. Gryffins were meant to blend seamlessly into military life as the perfect soldiers and leaders of men. For Gryffins were created with superior strength, courage, perseverance, and morality. They could be placed amongst any regiment of soldiers to inspire and lead them to whatever ends that were necessary. What made the Gryffins perfect as leaders in their worlds, and separated them from the other Myths, was their humanity. When the Gryffins spoke, people listened. When Gryffins fought with both a heart and mind, people followed them and trusted them.

It was their qualities of heroism in mind, strength, and soul that were their ultimate downfall. At least it was for her. As the war began they completed mission after bloody mission, but Hannah began to question those who were giving her orders and the very nature of the program that had trained and created her. She wanted to know about the Mythos program and exactly what they did to make her different. Joshua urged her to keep her head down and stick to mission but she refused to be a good little soldier. Her defiance was quickly dealt with and one day Joshua found himself without a partner and his loyal friend. She was deemed a threat to the program and was taken from active duty, not to be seen by Joshua again. And Joshua was told nothing but to 'get back to work.'

But a bond formed between two Myths, is not something that can be easily broken or forgotten. Myths were created as pairs to compare them in strength, to insure that if one failed the other could still succeed, and to create an unstoppable duo when they worked together. They trained together, suffered together, and formed a friendship, love, and loyalty stronger than any bond made between brothers and sisters, wives and husbands, or parents and children.

The government didn't count on such a strong connection forming between their Myths and they confined him to the Mythos facility until he could be properly conditioned to forget she ever existed. But it was no use--all he thought about was her. And when the Mythos facility was destroyed by Chaos, Joshua was able to escape, in hopes of finding out what they did to her. Now he only lives with the mission to find his other half and only he can unite the scattered Myths so they too can discover the truth behind who and what they are.

Lillian & David

The main purpose of familiars is to serve the witch or young witch, providing protection for him/her as they come into their new powers

Though they are not Myths themselves, they were given the nickname Familiars because they were the mother and father of the Mythos program, and the only constant friends and supporters in the Myths' lives. They were the scientists behind the genetic mutations and neurological experiment that made the Myths what they are. Though originally their intentions were pure the program changed into something else entirely within the hands of the government. The government's insistence on brainwashing, conditioning, and the extremes they wished to push the mutations to became a huge reason the two wished to abandon the program. But they could not leave the Myths, their creations, alone in the hands of the government so they stayed and worked for the project to support the Myths--in hopes that they could one day free them from what they've become.

When the Mythos facility was under attack by Chaos they got as many Myths out safely as they could. Including the entrapped Gryffin, Joshua. The Familiars destroyed their research in hopes that their work would not be recreated again and escaped the facility. If Joshua is able to locate the Familars, they may have the answers to unlock the mysteries of the Mythos program and the disappearance of his fellow Gryffin, Hannah.

Played by: Helen Mirren & Jeremy Irons

Sylvia

Chaos was the void from which all things developed into a distinctive entity, or in which they existed in a confused and amorphous shape before they were separated into genera. In other words, Chaos is or was "nothingness."

She was just a young girl when a bomb was dropped on her city, initiating the beginning of the war and killing millions of people. But, Sylvia was not counted amongst the dead. She was the sole survivor of this deadly attack by a miracle nobody could explain. The doctors said she'd never wake up from her coma or live outside of the tube that contained the radiation her body had absorbed and was emitting. When the government discovered this survivor they sought her out and promised her parents that they could give her her life back. With no options given by civilian doctors her parents reluctantly agreed to leave her in their hands.

What they didn't know was that she was taken to become a Myth. Her power was in her ability to absorb massive amounts of energy, a power the Mythos project intended to harness in her. But in their greatest creation came their own destruction. With a power the government was ultimately unable to control--she fought back, killing her captors and destroying every wall that stood in her way. The Mythos project and facility crumbled at her hands and little is known of where she is now. And there's no telling if there's anything left in her mind that remembers what it's like to be human, much less what it's like to be a young girl. But whoever manages to possess her--will hold in their hands the most powerful weapon the war has to offer.

Brian

He was a respected politician with everything going for him--he had a beautiful wife, wonderful daughter, a promising career, and he knew nothing of a top-secret military program that would eventually take everything he had in his life. When the bomb dropped on his home city of New York--he was not there--but his daughter Sylvia was. By some miracle, his little girl survived but with little hope of ever waking from her coma. Devastated, lost, and vulnerable--him and his wife had few choices but to let the government take her to treat her. Brian's wife went with their daughter but as time passed he lost all communication with them. Phone numbers he was given were disconnected, letters he wrote were returned unopened, and nobody knew of this Mythos Program that his daughter and wife were supposedly apart of now. He publicly spoke out against the government, sought to expose their secrets, and vowed to find out what happened to his family. But with a war waging on he was met with criticism and disbelief. His blind rampage to find answers during a time of war, and against the very government that was supposedly protecting them at home, destroyed his reputation and his career, leaving him with no friends or supporters who believed his story.

Alone and armed with little but the name of this mysterious government program, he must find the strength to reclaim his family and expose the hidden secrets of the Mythos project. When he crosses paths with a Myth, the Gryffin named Joshua, he will find in him an ally and friend--both men seeking to find those most precious to them. Together they will seek out the other escaped Myths in hopes of finding answers and more allies in their quest.

Morgan & Eva

Valkyries were female warriors who determined the victors in battle and of course, the war. To be chosen by a Valkyrie was considered an honor to dying warriors, for Valkyries only chose the bravest of the slain, gathering souls found deserving of an afterlife.

The Valkyries are the true warriors of the bunch. They are weapons experts, have superior hand-to-hand combat skills, and can pilot any military vessel of land, sea, or air. They have not met an enemy they could not defeat or a weapon they could not handle. Both are quick on their feet, looking for the next fight to keep the adrenaline pumping. They never stop--Valkyries are not planners or strategists--all they do is fight.

Morgan is the veteran. She knows precisely who she is and doesn't answer to anybody. She is extremely wise but has no desire to lead this band of misfits. She'll leave that to the richeous Gryffins (or at least that's how she sees them). The only person she trusts and values more than herself is her younger counter part, Eva. Now Eva, is almost the complete opposite. Now she's a damn good fighter to have at your side but she's hotheaded, outspoken, overly-confident, naive, and fearless. She never considers consequences and she'll run into any situation guns a blazing without thinking. Morgan has alot to teach her but together, they're unstoppable.

But Eva's outward confidence may be masking the inner demons of her past. Her memory was erased but some residual guilt still lies underneath, for she is the wife to Brian and the mother to Sylvia. She wasn't in New York when the bomb nearly killed her daughter. Ravaged by guilt she left her husband and followed Sylvia into this government program that assured Eva that her daughter would be safe. But it was only a matter of time before both of them were turned into what they are now--mindless weapons. If Brian were to meet Eva again--he'd come face to face with a woman who didn't remember him or their daughter. And her taste for mindless violence would be something he never knew she had in her.

Malik & Catalina

Portrayed as seductresses who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island.

Sirens are master hypnotists through seduction. With much time and patience they can seduce their subjects, gain their trust, and eventually control a single person's will. They may get someone to reveal their deepest secrets or have them act on their inner most desires. Sirens delve deep into their subject's subconscious mind to discover who they are and what buttons they need to push to have their subjects act accordingly to the Siren's will. Sirens were often sent on missions to gain top-secret intel from enemy spies or to influence the decisions of high ranking military officials. Though it takes time to gain control of their subjects it soon became apparent to them that if they stayed too long in the minds of their subjects, they would alter their subjects permanently--leaving them as hollow beings with no thoughts and desires other than those given to them by the Sirents.

With all the control they can have over another they don't really connect or relate to human beings. Their ability leaves few challenges in their lives and they've become quite bored and tired of interacting with humans. Spending so much time in people's heads they have no real insight into themselves or their own desires and purpose in life. They are beautiful, deadly, and have no moral issue against the things they do--for they know little of the emotions they manufacture in so many individuals they come across. Love, hate--they are merely words to Sirens and neither really feel or know the true meaning of those words or emotions.

Played by: Michael Fassbender & Carice van Houten

Iris & Derek

A spirit often capable of assuming human form and exercising supernatural influence over people...There also appears to be additional disagreement over whether these creatures are a force of good or evil.

They have very little power over individual will, but they can change crowds and human tendencies in very...unpredictable ways. It is said that whenever a Jinni is around--chaos is not far behind them. They emit emotional energy in the humans around them, inspiring good or bad in people--depending on the individual. With a Jinni around they could turn peaceful protests into violence or make the most deadly trained soldiers turn docile and still. They're not always fully in control of their abilities or what those abilities will set into motion in other people--but that's where all the fun lies for them.

They're wildcards and mavericks--playing the game however they wish and doing as they will. They've developed a real taste for the powers and have became addicted to the thrill. Unlike the Sirens--they enjoy humans and their unpredictability. They'll gladly spend their time amongst humans to see what chaos they can reign down.

While most Myths were once soldiers and highly regarded individuals the Jinni came from a much shadier past. Though they have no memory of who they once were--their carefree and almost selfish nature may change once they learn of their past. Both were convicted murders on death row given the choice to suffer their sentence or become lab rats for a government experiment. They both chose life and have no memory of the terrible things they've done.

Played by: Lena Headey & Jeffrey Dean Morgan

The insubstantial remains of the dead, a phantom without a body or the power of thought.

The Shades were trained to be one thing and one thing only, assassins. They've been brainwashed and stripped of their memories, morality, and most of their minds so they could become emotionless cold-blooded killers. They are shadows of their former selves, sent out for high profile kills without ever leaving a trace that they were there.

Though the Shades work together loyally, they don't remember or register who the other is. Years ago, they were both happily married with a young child. But when their child was murdered in their own home--everything changed. Their ambitions and lives were no more and the Mythos project was an opportunity to help them forget what they had suffered and lost--though they had no idea what they were signing up for when they became apart of the program. Nobody did.

Now they have no attachments, no emotions, no names, and no memories to tie them down and prevent them from killing the necessary targets. But if they were to ever find out or remember who they were, things may change for them all over again.

Played by: Eva Green & Richard Armitage

Luke & Oliver

Satyrs are described as roguish but faint-hearted folk - subversive and dangerous, yet shy and cowardly. They are lovers of wine and women, and they are ready for every physical pleasure.

Trained to be technology specialists, they can retain huge amounts of information and can hack just about any technology built by man. Their intelligence is unmatched in the world which led them to become quite confident, cocky, and carefree. They soon stopped following orders from inferior minds and started to become attached to the finer things in life; alcohol and women. Their lazy, defiant, and lust for fun and females soon got them the nickname of 'The Satyrs.' They are by no means, warriors and will quickly evade battles or danger in favor of saving their own skins--which is one reason they escaped the Mythos program early on--before ever becoming apart of the war. They escaped the Mythos facility and have easily eluded the government seeking to get them back.

Played by Sam Rockwell & James Callis

Erik & Harper

Furies were chthonic deities of vengeance. A formulaic oath in the Iliad invokes them as "those who beneath the earth punish whosoever has sworn a false oath".

If you asked the other Myths who the Furies were, they'd all draw a blank. For these two were not created like the rest of them were, when the others were created. In fact, both were just two normal, human, government officials who kept the whole Mythos Project running. They took their orders from their superior and planned the best course of action: they planned the ops, general plan of attacks, and which Myths to use for each given target. They oversaw the facility together to report to their superior and were even on good terms with the Familiars and the other Myths. But when the facility came under attack by Chaos--these two were caught in the crossfire. Harper was hit by falling debris and when he went to her side and screamed for help, no Myth stopped to help him. He managed to carry her to safety, but her injuries would prove to be fatal if something was not done quickly. Racked with anger over what a Myth did to Harper and how so many others had failed to help him and the woman he loved--Erik made a decision. He asked his superiors to grant him the power to stop the Myths by becoming one himself. And to make her one as well--so that she might be able to survive her injuries. With all the Myths awol--they were both granted such power to became Furies. Their brain function would increase to an nth degree and their physical capabilities would be far greater than the Gryffins or Valkeries. But it wouldn't be enough to save her completely. She'd remain in hospital, unconscious but alive--newly built with the strength to survive her wounds but not completely recover from them. And Erik would spend every day thereafter tracking down each of the treacherous deserters that had escaped, with a cold and vengeful calculation. He did it for her and would make sure every one of them paid for what they did. The Myths would have no clue of the newly made Furies that would be seeking them. They would not know of the power they possessed for these Furies knew each Myth and the powers they possessed. The Furies knew each Myth's strength and weaknesses. And more importantly, the Furies would have the strength and intelligence to stop them, no matter who or what they were up against. Played by: Tom Hiddleston & Michelle Dockery

The mysterious government figure that established the Mythos project and recruited most of its subjects. Most of the Myths have barely interacted with her for she's controlled most of the program from behind closed doors, with the Furies reporting directly to her with all the information she needs. But everything changed when the Mythos facility was destroyed by her most precious subject, Chaos. Most of the Myths thought all the human government agents were surely killed when the facility was destroyed, but that was only half true. Many did perish that day but she was never one to die easily.

After the destruction of the Mythos facility, all the Myths scattered and most of the Myths feel safe, thinking there is no one left to come after them or even capable of taking them down. They're enhanced humans in a world they can easily manipulate to their own needs, but this complacency will come with a rude awakening. For she wasn't killed and the stretch of her power is far greater than they could ever imagine. She'd cold, calculated, ruthless, and unrelenting. She'll do whatever she has to to get her Mythos subjects back to do what they were made to do--to fight, kill, and follow orders. She was responsible for manipulating most of them into giving up their normal lives to become the mindless drones they are now. Even now she controls the newly made Furies to her will, who have always looked up to her with great admiration and respect. Now she plays Erik's hatred for the Myths and his love for his injured girlfriend, Harper--to her own advantage. She knows each Myth more than they know themselves and though she is human and physically inferior to all of them, she is no less capable of bringing each one down. If the Myths knew she was coming after them, each one would be running until they couldn't run anymore.
