::sigh:: My life is complete... I'm dating the Johnny Depp of the Japanese mind.... or something like that...
It sounds beautiful, love. Make lots of friends so we can all go on a field trip after graduation and visit them... ok ... maybe that's optimistic... but still... make lots of friends.

Well...actually there are two Jons, and both of them spell their name the silly way without an h. Jon Snyder is an Aquinas Alum, while Jon studying anime porn is actually from Melbourne Australia.
As far as Gaijin, gai is foreign, and jin is person, or koku is country, so you'll see gaijin a lot, or gaikokujin, or gaikoku. It's often interpreted as a derogatory term, but it really is not derogatory in the least.
As far as only cooking eggs and toast, right now I haven't really moved from what I can look at and recognize.
Another fun thing about Japan...there's a chain of restaruants named "Mister Donut" and it really reminds me of the Simpsons. That's about all I can think of right now. Love you.

Mom again. Anime porn seems to be an interesting field of study for a college student. It also interesting that a college in Australia allows that as a field of study, but, I guess you will learn many more things than you every anticipated. :)
I think that cooking only what you can look at and recognize is probably a very good idea. I do not think that it will take you very long before you are able to read and know what you are seeing. Plus, sushi is right around the corner, so you are okay.
Hmmmm, Mister Donut, of course, I am not a Simpsons fan, but I wonder if you could find a picture on the net of this in a Simpsons cartoon? Might be fun to share. But, I imagine Japan is not only a mix of the old and the new, but of the national and the international. Sometimes, I think, this very big world, is getting smaller every day.
