Giles settled into a room, not really caring what the room was like. As long as it had a half-way decent bed, he'd manage. He had been quiet during the chaos of their arrival, mostly to give Buffy space to deal with Angel and her conflicting emotions. Although that wasn't anything new, was it ( Read more... )

I bumped into Giles in the lobby. "H-Hi Giles". I frowned. He had one of those looks that he gets on his face, like hes hiding his emotions. Trying to hide behind his glasses. He looked tired, so tired.
"Everything o-okay, Giles?" I asked softly, knowing that it was unlikely that he'd tell me. He rarely went into his feelings.

"Hello, Tara," Giles said with a tired smile. "Just wondering if I should be here helping with a new Hellmouth or in England arranging a new Council or if I should just clone myself," he tried to tease and then sighed.

"I'm tossing everyone into another crisis and we haven't dealt emotionally with the one we just had. We lost some good potentials in that fight, the girls are now Slayers and we lost Anya," Giles said, rubbing his temples. "Sorry, I'm babbling. Just tired. I didn't sleep well. Are you and Willow alright?"

"Willow and I are okay...she's getting visions, though....and what shes seeing isn't good."
I paused.
"We lost a lot of good people in that fight"
Giles frowned, and looked more tired than ever. I quickly added "But it could have been much, m-much worse."

I smiled softly at the exhausted man and put my hand on his shoulder, which seemed to shake him out of his daze.

I caught a glimpse of him over Willow's shoulder just as our chat seemed to have come to an end for now, I was sure we would talk more later.

Politely excusing myself from Willow I started a slow walk across the lobby floor toward where Rupert was. I was sure he would be surprised to find me here in LA, the city certainly was a long way from England. Just as I was happy to finally meet Willow, I was glad and a bit anxious to see Rupert again. Last time I had seen him was when he visited the coven back in England.

"Hello Rupert." I said in a soft tone, giving him one of my friendliest smiles as I approached him and Tara, who he seemed to be speaking with. I hoped I was not intruding on private conversation.

Giles looked over and blinked. "Hullo. This is a surprise. Or is it? Has the coven sent you along with word of another disaster about to happen?"

The Watcher shook his head. "Forgive me, I'm still a bit rattled and haven't slept well in... I don't remember when I slept more than a few hours last."

"No need for apologies, Rupert."I said, offering him another friendly smile.

"The coven did send me, but to Cleveland not LA. I only came here after talking on the phone with Willow." I said, which was truthful for the most part. It was not the right time to speak of the other small reason that had brought me to the States. There were larger and more important issues to deal with now, like the impending disaster that seemed to be coming.

Giles sighed. "Buffy had visions of a new Hellmouth forming here. What does the Coven see?" It seemed like there'd never be any... 'down time' for any of them. He longed for the quiet time he had at the covenstead as Willow had healed. It had been a long time since Giles had any peace like that. "What's heading our way?"
