The phrases started coming fast and furious when Michael delivered his jeep with its new spray-paint job. Once we saw the word ‘faggot’ on the side, he asked if I cared about being dropped at school. There was three seconds of ‘I won’t if you’re afraid’ and about fifteen seconds of ‘I dare you’ mixed into the glance and the shrug he gave me, though it was harder to read him in a suit than with all his clothes off. Sort of a Provençal instead of a Parisian accent, if you know what I mean. Still, I could tell I had the idea pegged right when I said ‘fuck no’ in reply. Those lips of his curved upwards faintly at the corner, and I learned another phrase: ‘That’s the right answer. Good boy.’

Absolutely loved this! What a great idea! And I especially loved the above quote because you've so perfectly translated that moment while also nailing the early essence of the B/J relationship. Well done! Great job.

Brian says so much with his body and not words, which is what made me start thinking along this line in the first place. I'm glad you approve of the final result.

You're so right about Brian saying so much without speaking (Gale Harold's genius at play!). It was soooooo smart of you to focus on that! As a writer, I'm jealous, but as a reader, I want more! You could do a whole series of stories based on this premise, and I'd read each and every one. ;-)

Gale Harold's genius at play

Ain't that the truth? His work on Brian's character transcended the scripts.

You could do a whole series

I can just see the headers now:
Eyebrow fic (an infinite series)
Lip-bite fic (ditto)
Face-rub fic (limited, but angsty)
Nail biting fic (ditto)

I'd read each and every one

Thanks! I've got two others boiling away, but I'll give these a lot of thought for the future. *g*

Thanks very much! It makes sense that Justin as a student would try his hardest to master his favorite subject, even if there is no "Introduction to Kinney" textbook for him to buy.

This is a wonderful piece! I haven't been around the LJ world much because RL is has me in it's teeth like a terrier and is shaking me fiercely. But having this be the first fic I got to read in ... months? Priceless! Thank you for your excellent character voices, as well as the interesting weaving of wordplay.

I'm pleased that this is your reintroduction to the B/J world. There's more, if you're interested, before and after this one in my LJ. And thanks for stopping to tell me that the characters and word choice were just right for you.
