I think it was just the meter of the phrase Brian said "backslapping breeders from Altoona" which has a 3-2-1-X syllable structure. Sort of calls out for another 3 to make it fit metrically, and Altoona was a 3 that sounded funnier than Harrisburg. (Sorry, probably more than you ever wanted to know.)
