Ooh, I can never resist a Battle of Osgiliath story, even if it's just in a flashback. It always sounds like it could be one of the most exciting battles in the whole story, with the breaking of the bridge and the desperate swim for safety, and yet we only get the tiniest glimpses of it. I think you've done a good job of sketching out how it might have been. I also like the reminder of how much work is left to be done in Ithilien after the War of the Ring. Kudos!

(Just one question: is this supposed to be bookverse or movieverse? It reads more like book, but the reference to retaking Osgiliath makes me think movie.)

MAny thanks, i'm pleased you enjoyed this.I admit I was very apprehensive about writing anything about the Battle of Osgiliath.

All my stories with the exception of a handful of drabbles are bookverse.I will maybe rework that sentence when I post elsewhere.

A good story about battles and their effects on the survivors; Faramir isn't so much burdened by Osgiliath as reminded by new battles. Good thing, too; Aragorn needs help with all that paperwork!
