I'm happy today, because I've learned that my favourite small child is coming to visit us tomorrow. More accurately, her family is coming into Toronto from Ottawa for a few day, and they're also coming over for dinner tomorrow. Wow, I like that. And Anne Carson must be a damn fine translator, too. If it weren't for the hanging last line (and I assume that a fair amount of scholarship confirms that it's a part of the same poem) I'd have thought it ends at the fourth stanza, with symmetry in "I seem to me." Darn. I'll have to look up her one complete poem.
