The other conclusion to be reached is of course that to the untrained ear and on the crowded street instead of a proper theatre a world class fiddler sounds no different to a busker.

I must agree with the good lady V though, he is very scrummy and doesn't look 41 at all!

I do agree Drack. In the forum I found this, someone also commented something similar.

"In the context of the story, I can understand why no one really paid much attention to the violinist. The acoustics in the subway station would have been terrible for one so it would have been impossible to appreciate the guy as you would in an acoustically correct concert hall, plus he did not have an accompanying orchestra with him so the performance would have been a bit bland anyway. If they had a full orchestra accompanied by a choral choir performing Handel's Zadok the Priest I can guarantee no trains would have left that subway station that day, even with the bad acoustics."

Also I might add.

"A 3-year old boy stopped, but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pulled hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.."

It goes to show, with time comes conditioning.

The younger the child the more connected they seem with the world at times.

To an adult, they seem to behave unruly and maybe even irrational. But they are merely perceiving the world with an open mind.
