I don't like what's going on one bit either. Ithaca is a very political town so I'm seeing a lot of war opposition (and patriotism) here. It's making my mind spin. For the first time, I'm questioning our country's actions. It's like when you discover your parents are fallable. I don't know what to believe, but I do know that I don't have the same blind faith in truth and justice that I used to. I see people with signs saying "not in our name" and I realize that people in other countries will naturally assume that because I'm American that I support the violence our troops are bringing into Iraq. I support the troops, because they're our brothers and sisters, but I don't support the killing, especially when about half of our own casualties is believed to be the result of "friendly fire". And what the fuck is that? About the worst euphemism I've ever heard. Killing the people on your own team--real friendly ( ... )

damn. I haven't heard that one before. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I lived in Ithaca for three years, and its a good place to make those kinds of realizations.
