3) sounds more like "Die, Steven Seagal!" to me. I know the game you mean, but I forget the exact german words too.

which game night in Redmond are you going to?

Well, somewhere between Kirkland and Redmond, I think. It's on one of the Microsoft campuses in the area. Something like friend-of-a-friend status gets me in, I think.

Oh, yeah. I used to go to Thursday Evening Board Games in Building 50 for a while, but then I got a job again and couldn't make it to the east side anymore. There's also a Tuesday evening game group, and then I thought Uncle's Game Store was running Friday nights, which I figured you might have been going to.

I wish there was a west-side games group regularly, though. Casey was supposed to start one. I should nag him.

The trick taking game in question is "Die Sieben Siegel", or "The Seven Seals". Soon to be repackaged as "Zing" from SimplyFun. A fine game, if a bit unbalanced on the part of the Saboteur.

Heh. Kinda close, at least.

I'd probably have to play it a few more times, but when the Saboteur was called, I didn't notice it being a fool-proof call by any means, as the caller inevitably ended up with at least two points if not four. Definitely worth a few more games of it, though.

There are some variants out there (I gotta think they are on the Geek) that involve bidding for the right to be the Saboteur, which, once you play the game for a while, is a far fairer way to do it, because after not too much experience you discover that a guarantee of no more than 4 points for a round (and possibly less) is a damned bargain.
