#244 magical truth-saying spidey

I am now a proud owner of a little tarantula! 
It's a Lasiodora Striatipes (Bahia Grey Birdeater).

It's only about an inch long, but I thought it a better choice than getting a spiderling which was tiny and I'll probably end up losing. In a year though, my little guy will be as big as my palm!

I've named him Mr. Nancy after spider-trickster Anansi

I am loving Mr. Nancy! Or Ms. Nancy. Probably Ms, I think. Don't female spiders tend to make short work of the males?

You are establishing quite an exciting zoo in your room! Do the mammals express an opinion on Mr. Nancy?

Hehe! I think after they mate, the females fo tend to er, cannibalise the male! :P

I'm not really sure of the gender of my tarantula but I really like the name "Mr. Nancy" from a character in American Gods (Anansi) :D

I don't think either animal knows the other exist! Mr Nancy lives high above a shelf between some books and Gonzo roams the floor and my bed. I'm glad Gonzo hasn't learned how to jump on my desk yet, because I have no idea where else to keep my yummy chewy wires and cables anymore!
