Mysore was hilarious. I don't think I've laughed so much since I was in Reno. There was WAY too much food, though. India is like the Shire in that respect. There is breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, brunch, lunch, tea break, dinner, supper, and an infinitude in opportunity for snacking at the small chat stands that line every street. The Shire, huh? That made me laugh. Must be the English influence from the Raj.

Your Jacob quote about peeing reminded me of something Bill said in the "P-place" about Harappa: "It's one of the most important archaeological sites in the world and the locals use it for a toilet".

Ahhhh...the developing world.

This is a GREAT essay. You really have a knack at conveying the feeling of your adventures. And the joy (and humor) you find in life.
