I often find it a shame these days that I can't just "pop down the strand and ave a banana"
Not that they don't have bananas in the states duh, just that no-one ever "pops" anywhere here

Some of us do "pop" - here & there.
But, each state is large, and as a whole 'The States' is vast... So, "few & far between" does not even begin to describe it.

I'm fairly sure in my agitated homesick state in that post that I totally misquoted the original "song" , and nobody "popped" down to the strand anyway,
but yes I suppose I was referring to the difficulty in walking anywhere here
