Way to go, Alan! Your post is very inspiring. I wish you all the luck and success in your journey!

PS: I had a lot of success with the "Body for Life" book. You might want to check that out.

Well thank you for the support :)

At first I thought this was Theo, but he now says it ain't him. :)

Hey, Alan.

I'm very pleased to hear you're taking charge of your health in a public way. I also had success with Body for Life and the South Beach Diet. South Beach is certainly a great place to start to change one's eating habits when it is still tough to get all the exercise required with Body For Life.

Go for it! We're behind you!

Hey Kate and Theo,

Thanks for the support so close to where is now home :) That I think may prove very important as well in this process.

I think you two have been an inspiration to me over these past few years, certainly your success with Body For Life was without a doubt :)

I like what he has to say in that book and plan to adapt the parts of it that work fdor me. This is to be a trial an error endeavour, so I would love to read South Beach. I have heard good things about it. :)

Thanks for the tips and support :)

I'll keep my fingers crossed anonymous November 1 2006, 21:09:00 UTC
Good luck, Alan.

You managed to leave "Captain Zymmer" behind, and I have faith in you that you will see this change through as well. Oh yes, I still recall why you changed that particular forum handle. :-)

As for suggestions on your third goal... well, I guess it depends on what precisely you are looking for, but I'd say being happy with yourself should take you a big step closer towards achieving that goal. :-)

All the best

Andreas

Well my fine German friend, I was super surprised and super pleased to see this comment from you. :) Thanks very much, that's the sort of thing I need ... and appreciate.

As for the Captain Zymmer thing, if all goes well I am going to Nerdout next year and get me a Star Trek Captain's costume and be Zymmer for once in my life ;)

Now to find the hot Bajoran love interest ;)

Oh and here's one for you my lad, losing weight equals more acting, more acting equals more money, more money equals trip to Europe, trip to Europe equals beer with Andreas! :)

You know that I already know how hard it is to lose the weight.

I want you to be as healthy as possible, so I wish you all the luck in the world.

Correct you are, sir. :)

I certainly cannot preach, but I can share advice when you need it and unconditional support when advice won't cut it.

Brother I know it is there and that the love that goes with the support is also unconditional, and you know that flows right back at you.

I have learned a great deal about love of late and I know this, we choose to love and therefore I choose to love.

I miss ya brother.
