The calendar at my place is right above the phone table. Easy to see and check on it multiple times a day. Also easy to call home and ask roommate to check on it.

Good idea. Mine is currently a desk calendar that's on the side of the fridge. It's awkward to write on and it's not very visible.

Visibility is key. Our 2009 one has great pictures but dark squares so I may print off a white one to hang beside it.
