I think we always "couldn't live without it", or we'd starve.

I think it's less an obsession with food, and more the fact that american culture bombards us with the least healthy options most of the time, which doesn't relieve personal liability, but it plays a part, yes at some point you have to put down the twinkie, but when you live in a society where its easier and quicker to pull off the road for 2 minutes on your way to work, and scarf down a 900 calorie mcmuffin than say cooking something real. The same foods that may not have been as bad 100 years ago now have all sorts of preservatives and chemicals, and who knows what that really does to our bodies. But the real issue, is that we're so god damn lazy, you can eat a lot, and if you excercise regularly its not gonna be a problem, I'd say the real issue is not the necessity of food, but fact that people won't get off their couches. Personally, I think the shadow government wants us all to be fat cows, its a lot easier to farm us that way.

Well I say we live in a country where we have so many choices on what we can eat, that we chose to eat what tastes the best.

And we make the most unhealthy food taste the best.

And to make is worse we have things like Speedways 64oz soda mug so we can eat unhealthy in even more unhealthy quantities.

Its a choice to eat unhealthy and be fat (for most)
