Alight at Night

We had such a lovely time this evening I just had to share it with you ladies.  About 45 minutes south-east of Ottawa is a place called Upper Canada Village, which is basically a little park that depicts a mid 19th century village in that area.

Each year they open up for a few weeks in the winter over the holidays.  It is called Alight at Night   ( Read more... )

Oh it was!!! The whole way home I kept thinking... "No matter how tired you are when you get home you've just GOT to post something to Fate and Time about this evening"

My sister-in-law and I took the kids last year but they were too little to really enjoy it and Owen had a sore arm last year so it wasn't all that fun. But this year.... OH MY GOD!

ABSOLUTELY! I'm thinking we should have a Fate and Time convention and hold it there! LOL

The place sounds amazing and like you and the family had a wonderful time.

Thanks for the links; interesting stuff. A life-size gingerbread house? Now that would have been fun to make. :)

Yep, it was tons of fun

- I'm not so sure about that. I made a small one with the boys and that was hard enough LOL. I'm not so sure how much of the house was actually gingerbread... I should have asked. The Whole thing can't be made of gingerbread or it would get all soggy and mushy when it snowed... wouldn't it?

Yeah, it would get all soggy. I bet it's probably made to look like a gingerbread house with goodies inside. :) I haven't made a GB house in years. Should do one in the new year. :)

As soon as I saw it I thought to myself missbevcrusher would love this!

You thought right, my dear. I definitely would have loved that. Thank you so much for sharing your experience here. Parks like that are magical in the sense that they can transport us back in time in a way. ♥

I'm so glad you had a good time. If ever I find myself in that part of the country, it sounds like a place I would very much like to visit.

Thanks again for writing all this.

And happy new year!!!

Happy New Year to you too my friend.

As for the park, I can't wait to go this summer when it is in full operation. From what I understand (although I'm not 100% sure) I think the employees actually live there for weeks at a time and run the village as though they would have back in the 1860's. I can't wait to check it out.
