[The speaker's voice is laced with a bit of annoyance, but much stronger than that is weariness. The rustling of trees' leaves being blown in the wind can be heard in the background.]
This must be a joke. Nothing but a cruel, extremely unusual joke from a being with a sadistic sense of humor. I am well acquainted with the fun of irony at this

No way...
[He paused briefly before continuing.]
Cid, is that you?

Rygdea?

When the heck did you get here?! You're not even suppos--
[He stopped himself from finishing those words once the memories came flooding back. It was chaos, pure chaos in Eden. Hundreds of monsters were swarming all over the place, devouring everyone in the city. The Cavalry managed to sneak in without PSICOM noticing their movements, but what happened next was what Rygdea wanted to forget.]

[He let out a deep sigh.]
Where are you exactly? The forest, right?

[Awkward doesn't even begin to cut it. With what had just happened back on Cocoon, and Rygdea still likely thinking he had betrayed the entire Cavalry to become the Primarch, what was he to even say?
Thank you for killing me, but apparently you couldn't even do that properly?]

As he walked, he continued to wonder if this was a strange dream. Do the dead dream, though, he wondered?

[Rygdea grumbled something after that, but it was too low for Cid to hear. Struggling to find the right words to say, the former captain glared up at him. He had only one question to ask Raines, only one.]
Why? Why the hell did you betray us?
['Us' being the Cavalry itself.]
If I wanted to be a mindless drone, I would have joined PSICOM.

[Not in the way Rygdea thinks he did, anyway.]
The situation is far more complicated than any of you realize.

[His temper was already starting to flair up.]

I was used as bait to lure the Cavalry into Eden. I never once so much as entertained thoughts of becoming Primarch. It was never my intention.
