001 [Voice]

[The speaker's voice is laced with a bit of annoyance, but much stronger than that is weariness. The rustling of trees' leaves being blown in the wind can be heard in the background.]

This must be a joke. Nothing but a cruel, extremely unusual joke from a being with a sadistic sense of humor. I am well acquainted with the fun of irony at this ( Read more... )

[Rygdea was just minding his own business messing around with the journal here, until he heard this rather familiar voice. His jaw almost dropped once the message played. While the man didn't state his name, he stated several key terms that confirmed who he was. Unsure if he should even reply, Rygdea does so hesitantly.]

No way...

[He paused briefly before continuing.]

Cid, is that you?

[He glanced over at Cid with a smirk.]

I didn't think you was the kinda guy who reads that sort of stuff.

[To that, he rolled his eyes.]

I read various books as a hobby, in the times that I do not have any work to do at the moment.

[He gave Cid a look.]

Is that a fancy way of sayin' you like to goof off and read fairytales when no one is lookin'?

[He gave Rygdea a look.]

No. It is a simple way of saying that I read in my spare time, and some of those books are fantasy novels.

Wow, I never expected you to be into stuff like that. I always figured you liked to read war & peace novels, or something political.

I deal with enough political and military issues in my work. Why continue that in my spare time?

[Rygdea scratched his head.]

Eh, I guess you got a point.

[He glances over towards the buildings nearby.]

Anyway, I scouted out the area earlier and there are some vacant apartments there free of charge. The people in this world don't seem to believe in commerce.

[He raised an eyebrow at that.]

How can a place thrive with no economy? Do you mean to say that habitations, food, clothing... We simply take them?

[He nods.]

That's the gist of it! From what I've noticed everything in this town is free, includin' the booze.

.....and of course, you would notice that first.

What's that supposed to mean?

Nothing, Rygdea. Nothing at all.

[Congratulations, Cid. You're being glared at.]

Uh-huh...

[Deciding not to press further in this conversation, Rygdea leads Cid towards the apartment complex. It seemed that there were seven large community buildings built here in town. They stuck out like a sore thumb in comparison of all the little cottages and houses here.]

I don't know why, but people almost seem content being here.

If they have been here long enough, it is almost understandable. They have no choice but to grow to be as such.

[He shrugs.]

You have a point there, but that doesn't make it any less disturbing.

[Once they entered the lobby, Rygdea leads towards the staircase nearby.]

I found a place on the sixth floor, wanna come?

[He wasn't sure why, but after seeing that l'Cie brand all the anger he did have towards Raines vanished. Maybe it was pity he felt now, pity for the poor friend he lost.]
