[So after making an appointment with Van and settling on the time and date for teaching him about the battledome, Frey made sure to arrive early on the decided day.
He's dressed casually but neatly, his weapon in the holster at his back as he leans against one of the walls of the building.]

[Being a military man, Van will show up promptly and in his uniform, looking positively immaculate. (If somewhat avant-garde, because his tabard really is something.) He has his sword with him today, something he didn't have on him at their first meeting... and it is more than half his considerable height. Good grief.
He greets Frey with a polite nod, and just the slightest bend at the waist.]
I'm sorry if I've kept you waiting. [After spending so many years as a teacher, he knows exactly what he'd want to hear. Even if Frey is only fake-teaching him.]

There is no need to apologize. You're right on time, actually. [Sadly, Frey hasn't really got anything like a 'uniform', as he's not really a soldier. But his mannerisms might hint of something similar, or at least military experience, as he stands and inclines his head in response to the other.] I just came early.
[Because Frey is nothing if not polite and prompt, sometimes overly so.]

[Very polite and prompt. Van Likes that in a person.]
Perhaps we should start with something quite basic? [Subtly taking control? Nooo, not him.] I'd like to make sure I understand the controls perfectly. [Says the man who taught himself how to use super-advanced forgotten technology.]
Re: [Action, october 8th]falenandawnOctober 8 2011, 18:58:45 UTC
Certainly. Do you have any preferences as to a setting? [Hey he's teaching Van how to work it for himself, so Frey has no problems with that. It's better if someone takes initiative, especially here, in his opinion. Walking over the the console, he'll motion for the man to follow.]
Recently the Battledome was changed so it's now capable of simpler settings devoid of monsters and opponents, but essentially any world someone is from can be simulated here.
[Frey is from a low technology world, he just stubbornly decided to learn because training on your own got boring and finding a sparring partner wasn't always possible.]
[Action, october 8th]faterecantedOctober 8 2011, 19:35:36 UTC
As good a start as any, don't you think? [He's careful to not sound overconfident, although from the looks of this kid... well, he's not too worried about the difficulty of any fights.]
[Action, october 8th]falenandawnOctober 8 2011, 19:41:33 UTC
[Van might be surprised, at that. He nods as he starts to work on inputting the settings, making sure to stand so Van can see the screen and options he selects.] Just watch me and if you have any questions about how to set something up, feel free to ask.
The setting I'll use sort of has it's own set of monsters, but I've been training solo for a while fighting these, so....
[Action, october 8th]faterecantedOctober 9 2011, 22:35:58 UTC
[Van steps aside and politely gestures for Frey to go first... or not so politely, depending on one's view of stepping into a room full of monsters, simulated or not.]
[Action, october 8th]faterecantedOctober 23 2011, 12:31:32 UTC
No, we wouldn't currently be capable of such a thing in my own world, either. Though in the Dawn Age... [But that's probably a conversation to be had while not surrounded by monsters, so Van lets the thought end there. For now. He stops standing even with Frey, one hand resting on the hilt of his sword.] Let's see what this is capable of.
[Action, october 8th]falenandawnOctober 23 2011, 12:42:25 UTC
[Frey is, admittedly, curious, but would have to agree that conversation is not the best thing right now. Once they step inside the door closes, and scenery appears-
Green fields with trees scattered here and there as far as the eye can see, though if you look to the west you might be able to spot a white stone... tower? castle. It was hard to tell from this distance.
And a giant, grotesque holly tree that seems to be clambering it's way toward them.]

Do you have a usual setting? [He could certainly learn something about the controls that way. He could also learn something about Frey.]

[finishing up the srttings, he nods to the door.] There. We can go in.

The controls certainly seem simple...

[Frey will take that offer with a smile, stepping inside and waiting for Van to do the same.]
