My James just got me into RPGs by hosting a one-off about pirates. I'm a little uncomfortable with the performative aspects of it, though. Definitely felt shy. Now he's trying to cajole me into joining his Stargate game since they just lost their anthropologist/linguist guy.

Eh, most people are a little uncomfortable at first, but you'll get into it. And I can hardly see a better fit for you than a linguist.
