4th

Our first 4th of July in Pittsburgh was fantastic. It was one of those days where everything just turned out well. The day didn't really start until about 4:00 when we got in the car with the idea that we'd drive to North Shore to where all the free carnival stuff was and then later look for a place to watch the fireworks. 200 MB isn't even half one's weekly upload limit at Vimeo!

Is there anything you don't have the answer to?

Actually, let's find out :-P For my ETC application I need to find a way to somehow present as a portfolio the huge amount of storytelling experience I have and how this highlights my skills at designing settings, narrative, and mechanics. Any idea? I have various notes and even some gaming diaries, both nothing really representative or even necessarily enjoyable to read.

I made a Vimeo account, but I suspect that CMU doesn't want me using it's wireless broadband to upload 200 megs of fireworks. I'll do that when I get home.

Did you ever make player handouts? Draw maps or flowcharts (or the bastard child of both, a relationship map)? Those could be portfolio worthy. Are you familiar with White Wolf's submission guidelines or, perhaps more importantly, their style guide? Cramming your best planned encounter or scenario from notes into the manuscript format specified in the style guide (or going all out and doing your own layout!) might make another good portfolio entry or two.

You could look at the rules and some of the entries from that Game Chef competition I sent your way a while back, and then challenge yourself to make a game as part of your portfolio. I didn't participate :( but I could make one with you now, since the moral support aspect is a big part of the experience, I hear. Should we make our own LJ community for our own private game challenge? Hmm...

How do you know so much all the time?!

We could totally make a game together, I'd be all about it. And I should do some more documenting of old campaigns. Do you have a g-mail account? I could show you the massive work in progress that is my shiny new D&D setting.
