Microsoft Access can suck a bigan...

So, this has been a slow week at work. Not too slow, but I guess I would say typical. I've been trying to be a good little worker bee, but I am so burned out from the last two weeks of recruiting fairs still. i figured since our internet servers were down this morning that i would get some work done, but I keep on getting distracted by piddly shit ( Read more... )

Well, UH teaches Access, so of course they will use it. Plus, it seems that if something is made my Microsoft, then it must automatically be THE software to use -- let's just make it the standard. *rolls eyes* trust me, I took a full semester of Access last spring...I hate it too.

right on man...it's just mind boggling to me that we used to use a File Maker system for the mail outs that we send, and it was easy to use (view, anf print data or the entire data base or even parts of it, and even merging files).

One of the other student databases that we use is Oracle bassed, and it sucks as well. It's nuts. We use about 4 different data bases (3 for students and 1 for employees). At least UH-Central is streamlining everything, as far as I know (into People-Soft). We aren't due to start our project (information merger until 2006).

It just seems that Microsoft needlessly complicates things or rather that they produce shitty software. But I suppose that you won't find anyone that uses a computer frequently that won't agree with me on that one.
