The most important thing to me is that while exploring, you take care not to get lost.

Staying on the trail seemed to work the best for me-- but I suppose that doesn't quite count as exploring. Marking the trail with ribbon or string is also a good idea.

It would work splendidly in Ilex forest, am I wrong? I just tie a ribbon to mark the path I've already walk through!

It would work quite well there, yes. Tie it on a branch facing the direction you went-- that way even if you walk in a circle, you know where you've been.

Have you studied it in a book? I've read many books since I came to Johto, but none about exploring.

I did, yes-- but most of my studying was done prior to arriving in Johto. I've found the books here to be lacking in many ways.
