So ... now that I actually have a little bit of time to breathe from the crazy pace of the holidays, I guess it's time to write a little blog post ( Read more... )

Back when I had cats, I had all manner of random rodents occasionally brought into the house by one of them who loved the sport of the catch, but couldn't figure out how to kill his prey. So he'd come show me and let it loose, and I'd be there all afternoon trying to corral an area as I disassembled a bookshelf that was too heavy to move otherwise, only to then capture a scared mouse in a bucket and send him outside for another chance at life with the cats hot in tow the whole time.

But having a squirrel loose - who got there by his own doing, would freak me out a bit. They're a bit more crafty and capable than mice, and they're mean if you meet the right one. Plus they have bigger footies for larger dirtier tracks on the carpet. ;)

I hate the uncertainty of moving. I hope yours goes smoothly. Especially if it's a downgrade as it sounds like. Many of my friends here in Seattle are moving out of town or out of state just to get ahead anymore. This market needs to turn back around to be in the renter's favor again.

Ha! I like your cat-and-mouse stories. I think if my cat saw a mouse, she'd be terrified of it--she's terrified of kittens, after all (true story; no maternal instinct in that cat whatsoever). She did catch a fly once, and appeared to enjoy eating it so immensely that she returned to the same spot where she caught for days afterward, hoping for a repeat performance.

This squirrel WAS mean! And a big, fat one! Mattie at first was planning to catch it (with garden gloves on), but once she saw it all ready and waiting for her to open the doors and chattering threateningly, that plan was out the window.

Thank you so much for your kind wishes for our move. I am nervous! I had a bad experience last time ...
