I'm sitting here right now trying to record the train for my CD. God, how I do love that sound. There are mourning doves here, too; that sound always comforts me, ever since we found that remarkable oasis of a TraveLodge in Tucson, burgeoning with magenta flowers, and always, always the mourning doves into the blazing stillness

When I was a kid, I walked down to the tracks one day and recorded 90 minutes of various train yard sounds on my red Fischer Price tape player.
