Today I baked two loaves of bread. I originally intended only to make one, but I used the usual amount of water, and to that I added my sourdough starter, and in the end I had dough more suitable for two smallish loaves than for one enormous one. So tasty all the same ( Read more... )

Incredible rain here tonight. The scariest lightning storm I've ever seen: giant, vivid, red bolts, close by, that burned their own image onto my retinas. It lingered overhead for three hours or so.
