I won't leave you fallen if the moment ever comes

So. I have a dilemma. I have been invited to apply for this "UW Academy", which, essentially, is a program where high school sophomores are invited to start college their junior year at the University of Washington (I live in Seattle, for those of you who don't know). It's mostly based on academics (ie GPAs, SAT scores, ACT scores), and my parents ( Read more... )

It sounds like a great opportunity. If it were me, I would take it. (But only because UDUB is my dream school.) I don't think you should if your heart won't really be into it. You might not be happy once you get there if it's not what you 99.9 bar % want to do. :]

If you don't mind me asking, why UW?

I really want to be in Seattle while I'm going to college. They have a really good competitive creative writing program, as a major. (Although I doubt I'll make it in.) And they also offer Latin and other Classical languages, plus modern ones if I so choose. (I want to major in English and minor in Latin.) So...yeah.

I would say...if you're worried about staying young, stay young! It sounds like a really good program, but if it only gives you the advantage of graduating younger, then just stay in high school. It's okay to be a high schooler while you're in high school.

*will be thinking/praying for you while you ponder all this*

I feel so young even though I should start thinking about the Future and Growing Up and etc. Peter Pan complex much?

Thanks.

eh. whatever you think about Growing Up will generally turn out to be wrong, then right in way retrospect--so why worry about it now? It's hard though, I know. :-)

I'd say apply - and then after/if you get in, decide whether or not you want to go. Out of curiosity, what are your dream schools?

Yeah, that's probably what I'm going to do, even if the application process is a hassle in itself.

I don't really have a Dream School that I'm slaving away to get into, but obviously I'd love to get into an Ivy League. Or Hogwarts. Or the best school for my career of choice (which I haven't decided). I can't believe I'm a year from being a junior (which is supposedly when the Future and Maturity begins).
