If I were going to pay someone the amount of money a custom-made clothing or costume item costs, you can bet I'd be wanting it to look like the references I gave them. This is a bad thing...how?

basically, the discussion was centered around some badly drawn reference art. A fursuit was made that looked like a dog, was meant to be a cat, but matched the (poor quality) reference art. I said I always followed references as closely as possible, but they took that to mean I'd follow a BAD reference, when I made clear even in the comment that I don't ACCEPT bad reference art.
mountains and molehills of course, this is the internet, but it bugged me.
I know you put a lot of effort into getting things right and always turn out great work so you're in your rights to be annoyed. If the art wasn't what the guy wanted he needed to clarify what was wrong with it when he sent it over. I'd love to see a side by side comparison. Even if it wasn't what he was expecting, I'm sure you did a great job on it.
