Some expressed the opinion that everyone should ask permission before reposing any art to the chans or forums or whatever. Not art THEFT, not commercially exploiting it or claiming ownership or authorship, ( Read more... )

Whether one likes it or not, if you post something publicly on the internet you have to be aware that anyone can copy and paste, take a screenshot, whatever.
Once you post art on the internet then it's fair game to anyone who cares to look at it who has the slightest inclination to take the image to use as they see fit. Is it right? Not really, but it's reality and if you post something online it's something you have to live with. (Though having said that, outright art-theft and taking credit for someone else's work is still wrong.)

We had a problem a few months ago with artists getting upset for being posted on fyac, a tumblr dedicated to awesome Assassin's Creed stuff.
The problem a lot of the artists had was that some of the people submitting stuff didn't include a link to the artist's work, although it's asked for in the submission process.
Surely a workaround for this would be to do exactly what artists have been doing forever; apply a watermark or a URL within the image. This would promote the artist more than anything and couldn't really cause harm...

LOL, I've had people use my art to describe their OC, and then had forums/sites dedicated to ripping the piss out of bad OCs take the images, and then silly icons with captions put onto them XD And with stuff like that, I don't even want my name ANYWHERE NEAR IT

Reposting my art or even photos of me? Don't give a shit.

Saying they made the art/costume, or took the photo, or that they are me (thankfully not happened... yet) when they didn't/aren't? That's my bugbear, nothing else.
