Once you post art on the internet then it's fair game to anyone who cares to look at it who has the slightest inclination to take the image to use as they see fit. Is it right? Not really, but it's reality and if you post something online it's something you have to live with. (Though having said that, outright art-theft and taking credit for someone else's work is still wrong.)

The problem a lot of the artists had was that some of the people submitting stuff didn't include a link to the artist's work, although it's asked for in the submission process.
Surely a workaround for this would be to do exactly what artists have been doing forever; apply a watermark or a URL within the image. This would promote the artist more than anything and couldn't really cause harm...

Reposting my art or even photos of me? Don't give a shit.
Saying they made the art/costume, or took the photo, or that they are me (thankfully not happened... yet) when they didn't/aren't? That's my bugbear, nothing else.
