Too fast for my own good

I happen to be a fan of fantasy writer Terry Brooks author of the Shannara, and the Word and the Void series. (If you've never read any of these books, I highly recommend them.) I have already read Armageddon's Children and The Elves of Cintra; the first two books of the newest series which bridges the gap between these stories. I have been ( Read more... )

I read the very first three books in the Terry Brooks Shannara series and then got bored with it.

Some other fun reading for you in the fantasy vein - have you tried Terry Pratchett? Hilarious stuff, quick reads and he's prolific (however, he also has been diagnosed with Alzheimers, so unfortunately, his writing career is coming to an end)

I just got into Jim Butcher's wizard series. I enjoy Kim Harrison's series (witches and vampires - not heavy duty - I don't do heavy duty witches and vampires). Like Simon Greene's Nightside series. Love Jasper Fforde's series. Christoper Moore, Charlaine Harrison.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I also read a lot of sci-fi and mysteries.

I'll have to check a few of those out sweetie. Not much for witches and vampire stuff, but more alternate worlds, fantasy characters and good vs evil.

Another good series is the chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever, by Stephan Donaldson. He is currently doing the Last Chronicles, and the final (I think) volume is also to be released in August. I am awaiting it as well. (And yes, i have already re-read this series as well.)

Well the Charlaine Harrison world is one where vampires have come "out of the closet" because Japan has developed an artifical blood product they can drink instead of the real stuff. So it's more light hearted than most.

Orson Scott Card has a good series - his books about Alvin (I think this is a wizard series).

I'll have to check out your recommends too (add them to my pick up at the library list).

Are you at all into S.M. Stirling's series (a world where "fire" no longer works - so engines, guns, etc. don't work either)?
