"...everything that I am..."

I was going to write a nice lengthy post here detailing the year that's gone but frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. That 101 things in 1001 days thing I started almost a year ago has floundered badly with me only actually suceeding so far in completing about two or three of them and failing several already. So I've hit it on the head and have ( Read more... )

write a letter to JD Salinger

Ooh, this sounds ace! I hope you will post it on here. ;)

There are so many unpublished Salinger stories floating on the net - are those the ones you mean to read? I ought to as well.

You should also buy the MES autoiog in April, will be GENIUS!

I might publish the letter here. I might not. It depends on what I feel like at the time.

To be really, really picky about JDS's short stories; there are NO unpublished short stories of his on the net. There's plenty that haven't been published since the 40s, 50s and 60s, but none unpublished. Believe me, I looked. There's only about half a dozen known unpublished JDS stories, and the only way to see these is to visit, in person, a couple of Uni libraries in the states.

JDS is known to have published 35 short stories, 13 are a doddle to get a hold of (yellow, blue and green books), Of the remaining 22, one is quite easy to get. If you like, if you haven't already got it, I can email you a word file containing these 22...

And, yes, MES's book does sound tempting... : )

I didn't think they'd appeared in book form though?

Email that word file away please! :) Thanks.

Oh, no; they've not (except A Slight Rebellion off Madison) appeared in books. When I hear mention of "unpublished" JDS work, I always think of things like "An Ocean Full of Bowling Balls" and "The Magic Foxhole" and so on which you won't find outside of those 2 US unis. I think the full list of JDS stories reaches something like 50 (though some of these are dubious).

I shall email the file when I find it - I thought I had a copy on my work computer (I must have at some point to print it out...), but can't seem to find it...
