"...as soon as I get my head 'round you..."

I'm trying my best to be a writer, yet really I don't understand people. That's really quite a problem, as if you can't understand other people. it makes writing other characters quite tricky. Of course, there is the option of writing a first person novel based on your own experiences (even if embellished) but then why write a thinly veiled ( Read more... )

"Hmmm, best do the washing up soon" was the most sinister that I managed this evening...

It doesn't have to be dark things, though; it's the random, obscure things that pop in to a person's head... The way you link from one thing to another, that chaotic, almost fractal, way of remembering things and associating things, and so on.

Dark things, silly things, weird things, obscure things, naughty things... ah, so many...

But surely that strangeness is what's worth writing about in the first place? And the making sense of it too. Have you ever read any Henry Miller? He wrote about all the crazy characters he met, which is what I am going to do. Miller is a legend.

Did I tell you about my Salinger fear? - that when he carks it, a horrifically bad filmic version of a certain novel will come thru. I far that so much.. what do you think?

Start with his trio of books that are Plexus, Nexus and Sexus. He's crazy with words and it's beautiful.

I'm depressed about the thought of being dead in 70 years now!

I had a gander in Waterstones for him today; they only had one of his books and it had a topless lady clad only in a pair of shorts, with a fully clad chap leaning over her starting to pull these shorts down. Looked like a right filthy type of book...

Mmm... Amazon...! : )
