ON CAMERON... Cam is kinda...Euhhhhhh. Complicated, I guess? He's lazy as hell, but not because...uh. I dunno. Like I get really annoyed with him when he just sits there and is about as useful as dirt, but--mm. Y'know. He's had a hard time. And he's my brother, so it's like. I know better than to just assume he's a waste of air?
But still. It really annoys me when he doesn't do anything. Like, if there's obviously something I could use a little help with? Hello? Do I really have to ask? Fleck.
And you know the weird thing is? He only seems to get all amped to get all up in my business. Like, Oh, no, Neen! You can't talk to Gyabi and drive the ship at the same time! That's distracted driving! Really? Really? Come on. I am a professional. I'm not the dweeb that spilled Sanduvian honey all over a circuit board.
It's so even worse planetside. Like...Apparently he still thinks I'm 12? He's like two steps away from holding my hand and walking me everywhere. Like...Okay. I can get the whole protective big brother thing, really? But...C'
( ... )
ON JAM... Y'know, I'm not really an expert on all the pan-galactic politics behind the Decommission or whatever? But...Okay. Robots are really freakin' cool. I mean, it's kind of insane? That someone can make a machine that can look and act and do stuff like organic things? But I don't really find it all that creepy. I mean...unless someone programmed it to be creepy, I guess.
...And okay. Yeah...The following me thing is kind of creepy, come showertime. But I don't think he realizes it? My robot, I mean. I don't think he knows what's polite or whatever, so that's why he just kind of follows around and pays attention like that. It's weird? But it makes sense, I guess. His memory must've been all zonked out from whatever. I dunno. Maybe he was decommissioned, too? Or just got overlooked because he was a dud?
I think it'll be a bit better once he learns kinda the rules of stuff. He's not a slow learner, but he's not exactly...sharp on things, y'know? Like if it isn't a straight-up do this kinda thing, he'll kinda just...try and
( ... )
He is so. So. Cute. And tiny! And he makes these cute little noises when he's all confused or cranky or whatever...Haa! You just kinda wanna pick him up and squeeze him forever, y'know?
And then he walks in and leaves a dead hullrat by my bed. Just...Uhh! Either Cam sucks at training animals or he's doing that on purpose, and in that case I'm kicking his ass and leaving him at the next crap port. He'd be perfect if it weren't for the eat gross things, leave the bones in my room thing.
Well, whatever. We'll figure it out. He's a lot smarter than he looks, y'know? And kinda mouthy, too. He's only really terrible when he's whining to get fed and Cam's not doing anything about it. Like I'm the maid here, fleck. He's your pet, not mine! I'm not even technically allowed to have animals on board! Think about the risks I'm taking!
He better just stay tiny and learn to be only cute, that's all I'm saying...
ON DANEEN...Daneen is my proprietor. I operate for her. There is a lot I have yet to learn and her temper is close to ideal for a teacher. I have identified certain patterns in her behavior during my observational research. A great part of it still remains inconsistent.
ON CAMERON...Cameron is Daneen's brother. His behavior towards me is mostly hostile. He has not specified reasons for this, but he has yet to be physically violent.
He is considered a valuable member of the crew, so I will assist him.
ON BHERNNEV...Bhernnev is Cameron's pet-slash-companion-slash-assistant. [pause to make a robo-mental note to determine the correct term]

Cameron is my friend. He is not like other bipedals I saw before. At first, uhm, when I was taken from my mother... I thought he was going to hurt me too, but he didn't. He put me in a small place so I could sleep and eat. I would bite him a lot, because he looked like the other bad bipedals, but he was trying to be my friend. So... he is my friend, now.
Cameron still gives me food and a nice place to sleep. I get to climb on his back when he walks around, and he never gets angry! He's going to help me find my mother again, did you know? I don't know my planet's name, though, so we have to look for it...
I really like looking outside when we're in the space, but Cameron gets sad when I do. If he tickles my face with his nose then it makes him feel better, so it's alright. He says people can't see me or they will try to take me away again, so I have to hide, but I still get to go see other worlds.
I like to sleep on his tummy. It's bigger and rounder than Daneen's or Jam's.
ON DANEEN... Daneen is my friend as well, but not as much as Cameron. She is his sister and her hair is my color plus more colors.
Hm... She's very nice and talkative. She doesn't like it when I eat rats or when I play on her boxes, but I always forget... and then she yells at Cameron. I'm sorry.
Daneen is always doing other stuff with the ship and Jam so she doesn't have a lot of time to take care of me. That's alright. She doesn't get sad when I look at the space and she lets me watch her do stuff with the ship. But I can't be around when she is talking to her friends.
ON JAM... I don't know if Jam is my friend, but I think he is. He's a different bipedal, even if he looks a lot like Cameron and Daneen. They told me the name of his species but I forgot. He's always doing stuff around the ship with Daneen and never gets to play with me. I get to watch him go out to the space to take care of the ship! Sometimes Daneen yells at him but he never gets sad or angry. Cameron gets angry at him.
Jam is like me, he isn't very good with machines and they found him when he was lost. He isn't looking for his home, though. Sometimes they have to open his head when he does something wrong... he says it doesn't hurt. I hope they don't have to open my head.
Hhh. My sister's kind of an idiot. She thinks she can talk smack about anyone or anything without getting into trouble. Guess who has to intervene to keep her from getting her legs broken? Yeah.
I dunno. I guess she can't help it. She's always talking. Always talking. Nobody has to be even in the room and she'll be going on and on...I'm kind of amazed she hasn't already been axed for all the crap she gets away with, too. I read her employment manual and I can counnnt...like seven regulation violations in her room alone.
She's always been like that, though. If she doesn't get her way, she becomes the biggest pain in the ass ever. Her begging for things in that weird cutesy way is bad enough, but then she just starts yelling. Fleck. I should be deaf by now. Most of the time I let her have her way--it's her ship, whatever. But then she has to go and do dumb stuff like adopting an illegal piece of hardware. I can't tell you how many times I've told her that's going to get her sent to prison forever, but, typical Neen. She

So if Neen's going to keep the walking toaster, I'm keeping the dragon. I'm keeping the talking dragon. I have a dragon that talks and nobody else does. Dragons are cooler than robots, so I win that.
I know cats have been extinct for like...ever, but I think this is what having a cat is like. If cats talked and were actually awesome and not the plagues that they were. He scratched the hell out of me for a while, and I was almost like okay, forget it. But you can't let something like that go so easily. And he warmed up eventually and now the only scratches I get are when he tries to climb up when I don't have sleeves or something

Toaster on steroids. Stupid steroids. Stupid that radiates and affects the first person it makes contact with-- my sister.
Robots are illegal. There's books upon books as to why, but mostly I remember hearing it's because they can revolt? And...so we have on on the ship. Okay. This makes a whole lot of sense.
It doesn't do a whole friggin lot, either. I've seen it like...push a box? Once? What is she even keeping it for? Equipment has to have a function, not just be there. And, look. Every clearance check we go through bugs out with that thing. That's not normal. It's going to get us into some serious trouble.
I'm still trying to find something that can tell me how to override Neen's command status in its programming. Once I do that, I can just tell it to leave us alone and, boop. There we go.
