Here is the break down, as I see it, for emergency room treatment in this area. First and foremost I feel that the average citizen, for the most part in the dark of most things medicinal, expects too much from modern medicine. They are not capable of being told "We don't know what is wrong with you.", or simply won't except it without cussing their ( Read more... )

I don't see the patients themselves, but I get to go through their charts on a daily basis. Our area is a bit bigger and our hospital actually sees between 300 & 400 patients a day. What really gets to me is the number of people getting po'd because the doc won't shoot 'em full of narcotics because, gee... weren't you here with this same problem 5 times this week already? And the number of people who call EMS only to leave without being seen kills me. If you're sick enough to have an ambulance bring you to the hospital, you'd better be sick enough to wait for a doctor. And if you're well enough that you can walk out without ever seeing a doctor, why the HELL did you call 911 to bring your butt in??????????????

So yeah - I feel some of your pain. Just a little bit of a different angle. :)
