so what's the deal with college showers?

Ever since September, every time I enter my dorm through the backdoor and find that the basement door isn't propped open, I walk down the stairs again, go outside, generally into the cold/rain/snow, walk around the row of buildings and up a small hill to get in through the front door. Because my keys won't unlock the basement door
