Private to Staff

Maybe we could all step back a moment and look at this incident objectively instead of though the eyes of affection? I know Professor Matsumoto is a friend and favourite teacher to many, but I for one would like to know how a child - a child, I have to remind you - was able to even get through the wand movements, let alone the incantation of what ( Read more... )

I never showed that spell to any of the students or staff, Roy.

Nobody was meant to use that.

I didn't say that you did. But someone found out anyway, and we need to find out how so that it doesn't happen again.

I know.

There shouldn't have been any way. The only time I ever cast that spell was in private training sessions with no one around, not even staff, Roy. Maybe Mia saw it, once, but she wouldn't tell anyone and students aren't ghosts.

Perhaps some supervision is in order until the matter is resolved.

I love watching him do that XD faultywhenwet August 3 2009, 12:14:29 UTC
It's an idea, yes, but there are several other avenues that could be taken as well. The best idea would be to find out the exact details of this situation first before making any decisions on the consequences.

[Roy has forgotten that he is not in charge here XD]

Well, I'm not particularly fond of the argument I'm about to make but I will put it out there. The fact is, she does teach a class that involves a particular amount of wand waving among the students and this class, being of a higher level, would naturally involve complicated wand movements that might go unnoticed, especially if one considers where the student might have been seated in this class.

As for how the knowledge was obtained, well, that is an unknown element we are going to have to address at some point.

All the reason to be paying more attention, not less. I can understand how it could have happened, Luxord, but it's an explanation, not an excuse.

It is. Preferably before the Ministry gets a hold of the information.

Very true, I was merely putting in my two cents I suppose.

That could prove very troublesome.

As a Head of House, you've probably got more of a right than most. Who deals with situations like this? Rangiku is a Head of House herself, so is it decided among you, or taken to the Board?

Of course, the Ministry does have a representative here at Hogwarts in the shape of Hawkeye and myself. One could say they already know and leave it at that.

Are you planning on interviewing the student sir?

As a matter of school discipline, that's not something that's up to me to decide. If it were needed, though, I would be available, yes.

Preventative measures are best for deterring these kinds of situations. I won't recommend total reconstructions or revisions on classroom management, but it wouldn't hurt to see more control over student actions.

If there's something I've learnt over the years, it's that there's always more than one way of doing things. Let's find out exactly what happened before we start jumping to consequences and subsequent actions.

My way is not the only way. It's simply what works for my teaching style. I choose to deter such consequences before they occur.

I meant more than one method of deterence, but whatever floats your boat, Mr Independent.
