Arg! I know exactly what you mean; I've been job hunting for about a month now. I keep telling myself that it's not me - it's just the fact that a bunch of kids are suddenly trying to get jobs because it's summertime. So they have plenty of people asking for jobs...so it's not me? Gah, I just need a job.
Also, I read Crime & Punishment a few years back (I would also read Notes from Underground by Dostoevsky). I'm also reminded strongly of Light Yagami. The ideas in the story are almost parallel with Death Note. One of my favorite parts of the book was when Raskolnikoff went into a bar and met a drunk who's daughter was a prostitute. His whole story really touched me because I've known plenty alcoholics in my lifetime.
(I take a Russian Literature class. So we read a lot of Dostoevsky, Tolstoy and Gogol. =D)
Oh oh, I would also read Mysteries by Knut Hamson, if you get the time. Brilliant.
Good luck on finding a job, and I love your hair!!
Notes From the Underground actually is responsible for beginning my fascination with Dostoevsky... and I've read War and Peace, Anna Karenina,, and The Death of Yvonne Ilyich by Tolstoy.
it's gotta be michigan...job hunting is srsly pwning me and propelling me into such a funk where i'm freaking out and popping pills and nothing good is coming out of it.
at least you haven't played gigs that are supposedly paying gigs... where you haven't seen the money from those four or so gigs yet :/
