Jim Macken Before he became known as "Alois Trancy", he was "Jim Macken". Jim Macken was a young boy, living in an isolated English village. He was an orphan, along with his younger brother Luka. By his account, the villagers ignored and offered no help to them after the death of their parents. Jim had not been able to forgive them for their cruel behavior and often delighted in imagining the deaths of each villager. When not looking for ways to ease the loss of his parents and the pain of being abandoned by the villagers, he was happy being there for his younger brother. Having no one else in the world, they were very attached to one another.
One evening Jim and his brother came upon a decimated village. Jim was ecstatic to see his wish come true, going so far as to plunder the dead in the hopes of gathering more material items or food. His happiness was short lived when he found his brother's dead body. After that moment, Jim was unable to move on. He became trapped in a regressed state of mind for years, until he was captured with other boys by Earl Trancy. Under the slavery of Trancy, Jim drew further into himself and only worsened his already twisted personality.
Jim lived as a sex slave for an undetermined amount of time, during which he had decided that he would escape somehow. There were rumors among the other boys about a "fairy" who would grant wishes. Jim believed in it and found the idea to be fascinating enough to look into. However, rather than a fairy, Jim encountered the demon Claude. After a series of events, Claude and Jim formed a contract and assumed the head of the Trancy household by parading Jim as the earl's long lost son, Alois. The earl died under mysterious circumstances and "Alois" became the new head of the Trancy name.
For three years, Alois waited for the opportunity to meet Sebastian and Ciel, in order to see his revenge to the end. After a botched costume ball, Alois invites Ciel to his home so that their butlers will fight to the death. In part, the duel is for Alois to finally see his revenge become a reality. However, he is unaware of what Ciel believes to be right or how much both boys have been lied to. Their duel is quickly cut short when Ciel manages to wound him. His pride is shattered when Claude does nothing (while he is conscious) to help him. When he awakens, he can think of nothing but finding Ciel and dealing with the other boy himself. Claude finds him before he is able to and kills him. He does not yet know why he's been killed, but he clings to the belief that it may have been accidental--or perhaps, for good reason.

Personality:
Alois Trancy, despite his airs and arrogant manners, is aware of how little he knows. He comments once how he wishes to know what the servants in his mansion are thinking. He cannot control them, but he still tries to manipulate them to his will. His upbringing and desire to be love play in the background of each of his actions.
When in front of a crowd, Alois will put on the front of a wealthy young Victorian, acting the part as well as he sees fit. His mannerisms are exaggerated and his underclass vernacular is apparent despite his efforts to hide it, especially when he is not surrounded by those who desire to see that part of his personality. He enjoys dancing, frequently trying to engage his butler in at least a few steps with him. Alois is bored with his life in his mansion, having gained so much in such a short time and with nothing to do. His newfound boredom becomes a double edged sword in his perception of the world. He cares little for the welfare of others, choosing only to look after himself. He has his own assumptions and insecurities he keeps to himself, hidden beneath the frequent sunny (and often fractured) display he prefers to present. Alois struggles with his perception of self. He believes that he needs someone to love him to be considered important in some way.
Alois will freely greet the chance of some kind of adventure or change in his otherwise daily and dull routine. Alois is much more strong willed than he appears. He will use the greatest tools of manipulation to get his way, easily sewing together lies and truths to conceive the best results. His strong willed nature also hides a much more vulnerable side of his personality. He can continue to pursue as many of his enemies so long as he has the love and affection of another person. He lives and strives for love in any sort of form, so long as he is deemed as the center of attention. Alois expects (or at least wishes) for the same sort of devotion to him as he may lavish on another person, specifically Claude.
Alois is frequently bored by the larger scope of life and yet easily amused by small things. He reacts with a flash of hot childish anger, lashing out at everything around him. In his youth, he was a hot-headed young child, moving about with a brash attitude and asserting his presence in the world he lived in even if that very world seemed to disagree with him. His brother served as his constant supporter, praising and hailing his brother’s behavior. As Alois became older, and began to plan out how he would benefit from certain situations as they arose in his life, his anger became more explosive, his actions even more erratic.
Though he may rely on Claude for more than just his butler abilities, he is also separate from him. He realizes the conditions of the contract he made, in exchange for his “wish” to make Sebastian suffer as much as he has in his lifetime. Alois is consumed with revenge and exerts his sadness through a loud, wild, and sensual parody of what he has become. Alois, despite his bravado, is very lonely. He despises the mansion he lives in, he hates the servants he surrounds himself with, he loathes the people who come toward him for money or for anything else, and yet he still immerses himself deeper and deeper into that world, in the name of revenge. The memory of his younger brother pushes him forward, frequently but quietly directing how far he goes in order to avenge his death.
In the company of men he knows by name, Alois has a tendency to approach them in a shallow and suggestive manner. Women are treated with the same carefree air of a noble who’s seen too much but is not above attempting to sweep a young damsel off her feet. Alois becomes attached to strangers, feeling no qualms about approaching them in an overly familiar manner. As when Sebastian (in disguise) first entered his mansion, he hung around him with a jealous tenacity fueled by his own curious behavior. Everything is a game to him, or so it would seem. He treats the world with a flippant air, all the while hiding behind a jester’s mask. Since the day he became the new Earl Trancy, no longer goes by the name “Jim Macken”.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Alois has a fear of loneliness. His fear of the dark may have emerged during his time as a slave, however it could be a trait to allude towards his child-like persona. He seems more afraid of pitch, dark areas much more than he is of the passing of the day, most likely because of the presence of Claude at his side. Due to how he deals with his previous trauma, Alois is very vulnerable to any sort of verbal insult thrown in his direction. He needs emotional stability of some sort, or else he falls victim to the phantoms of his mind and descends into insanity.
Alois is also ignorant of the events surrounding him, particularly about the contract and Claude’s devotion towards him. His childish behavior can be used against him as well, despite it attributing as one of his strengths. He combines his childlike behavior with his own acting abilities in order to live among the upper class and to further his own goals. Alois is aware of his body, how it looks to others, and how he can use it against them. He purposely flaunts himself to gain an advantage. Alois is outspoken and is more than willing to take any challenge that presents itself to him. He treats the world as a game, whether he win or lose, however, he was sure to arise as the victor in some way.
Combined with his flair for the dramatic, Alois believes that he is able to twist any situation to his will.
There was a time where he was able to survive most situations without Claude. The longer he lived with the demon, the more dependent he became on the other. By episode eight, Claude becomes his Achilles' heel, his desire for love clouding all of his vision from the truth and reality of the contract he made with the demon.

You call that a dance? I've seen drunken fat men move better than that, stupid shit. Now dance.
[He steadied the Pokémon’s body, adjusting its posture to fit the one he had in mind. The Pokémon squirmed under the attention, but Alois simply rapped his knuckles on its head to keep it still.]
If you stand like this-[he finished his adjustments and stood back to admire his work] -then you’d be able to move more freely.
[He giggled and launched into a quick little jig and gestured for the pokémon to follow suit. It stared back at him with wide, confused eyes. Alois gritted his teeth, all traces of a smile gone.]
You’re worse than Claude. [He groaned, but was willing to try just once more. Alois grabbed the pokémon and forced its body to move to the proper steps he had in mind.]
Hold your arms like this -[The pokémon tried, but Alois’ patience was already running thin. He simply picked up the pokemon and spun it around in his arms, taking it through the movements of a dance he learned long ago.] -and you move like this.
[The pokemon still stared, confused even more by the new steps. Alois huffed and let it drop from the height he held it from.] Useless…
Third Person Sample:
He hadn’t remembered traveling on the road to be as difficult as it was now. Alois could feel the sweat building on his brow, settling into the creases on his face that he thought were long gone. He snarled as he wiped the sweat off with the back of his hand. Though he was sure he had no blisters on his feet (just yet), he was still winded from his walk. If Claude were-“…As if he would have done anything.” There was a better chance, he thought, of Claude watching him from a distance than helping. A small part of him wished for that to be false. Maybe if he kept walking long enough, Claude would see that he really was just as good as Ciel--he was better than Ciel, he was everything Ciel wasn't-- He allowed himself to chuckle for a moment before looking out onto the trail ahead of him.
The town with the false mother was a day behind him, the closest one was a day ahead. Alois kicked up dirt and threw his pack to the ground. He kicked it as hard as he could, until all the supplies within were strewn about the trail. Damn that woman, with her petty smiles and pity-- Alois didn't need them he wanted--
“Claude! Where are you, Claude?” He stomped on the bento box, crushed the berries under his heel, he jumped onto the pack, delighting in the sounds of each small thing meeting an end thanks to his heel, his power-he could control whether these things would be worth anything at all and now they were nothing. Absolutely nothing--worthless to anyone who came across them, including himself.
“Come on, Claude! Come out of hiding!” He kicked the bag and followed it down its tumbling path. A twisted smile marred his face as he kicked it harder and harder, sending more items flying from the pack. The pokégear bounced out. The thing was just as useless as the rest of the items, even if the old, dotty man had said something about it.
Alois laughed and instantly crushed it underfoot. How could this thing be useful? He laughed louder as he dug his heel into the screen, giggled with each sound of the glass and gears and little mechanics popping and crackling in cruel and awful pleas. Alois could hear them-- and it only made him laugh more. How was it useful? It was so easy to break, to destroy-- he had mastered the damned thing, shown it how much better he was than it-- why would he ever need such a thing when he had Claude?
“Clean up this mess, Claude~!” He spun around, hoping to see that tall, dark shadow of a man behind him. He turned again and again, his eyes scanning the area in hopes of seeing just a glimpse of him. "...Claude?"
“Hoheo taralna rondero tarel…” he muttered beneath his breath, as the sun began to sink into the horizon. Alois kept his eyes on the road, willing some dark apparition to appear and bow down to him.
“…Hoheo taralna rondero tarel… Hoheo taralna rondero tarel… Claude…? Claude, answer me. Answer me! Where are you? …Claude? Didn't you see what I did? ...I'm helpless now. You can see that, can't you Claude? I'm helpless. No food worth eating. No clothes worth wearing. No place worth sleeping-- Claude?” He watched with growing apprehension as the sun dipped further into the horizon, the sky growing darker and darker with each passing minute.
His breathing quickened as he paced the forest. Yes, if he made an effort to move then Claude would come-- no, he had to stay put, he had to stay still and wait. He had to wait, because Claude would come and he would take him back home, back to the familiar and the grotesque. Alois felt as if he were rooted to the spot, unable to decide which direction to take as the darkness grew around him and chanting away his spell as he hoped and waited for Claude to respond to his call.
