Yes, a lovely story, and a sad bit about her'father'... a really beginning beginning... I'd like her to go on and become the Kara in Miss Flyers Victor's home!!!!

Despite the physical description of the technician, she seems to speak as if she is an android just like Kara. Am I misreading?

No, you are correct. I deliberately left it ambiguous at the start of the story, so the lab technician's android status is revealed as the story progresses.
