So monday I was video visiting patients in my office and around noon I started feeling hot.
The office was in heat to 76 and I told myself AH HA. Thats why!
Turned down to 70, felt better and finished my day. Eyes started burning but not in my typical f*ck bloody blooming trees way, but in the hmm, check that temp way.
101.4.
Panick!
It took an hour for the poor overworked infectious disease doctor to get back to me, but my boss, of course, loses his shite. Luckily it was more heavily on the don't die bit and less so on the get your bills in, in case you die parts. He really is a good soul, so don't fault him for it.
I was instructed to drive to the ER closest and instead of walking in and sitting in a room where I might give them the plaque, they had me pull up into the back ambulance bay. There were secure texts exchanged back and forth and after me having to reassure the rn that no, I really am here, you just can't see me because I didn't want to take one of the good spots for actual ambulances and emergency cases, they came out in to my eyes were truly pathetic examples of PPE to talk to me. Nurse was terrified, poor thing.
ER doc was fabulously kind and that mask really brought out the grey in his blue eyes.
I was myself and ruined his joke about poking my brain and causing a leg to kick out with facts. The primary motor cortex is wayyyyyyyy away from there. Honestly.
I have received three calls since last night from various dutiful lab personnel that my test was negative. No one talks to anyone but at least they all had a stake in my results which is nice.
What does this mean?
There's a 75% chance I don't have coronavirus 19.
There is a high chance that I will have to go through this again because a week from Friday I am back on call for the hospital and by the current expectations it will be worse.
My fever broke yesterday, so I am planning on getting back to work tomorrow - all virtual. I was supposed ro be on vacation next week but I will have to go see dialysis patients while I know I am well.
