I was surprised by how suddenly he passed away. I didn't realize it would be such a huge shock to himself and his family and friends as well.

I never knew much about him aside from his films. But in this letter the thoughtfulness and consideration and love he had for the people important to him, and the warmth behind his words, is as beautiful as anything else he ever made.
