I recently had a conversation about my brothers kid. She is 7 and plays soccer. Apparently there is some rule where if one team gets to far ahead in points they make the winning team (do something different, sorry I'm hazzy on what I was told the rules were). Anyway, it's to keep the game "fair" I guess
( ... )
To fill you in a bit on soccer--we did that too--it may be different where they are, but in our league, if one team was truly killing the other, the made the best player sit out, or sometimes let their best player play for the opposing team for a while if the opposing team was down a player or two.
It sucks, I know. We don't play soccer any more. Now we're trying to work on sportsmanship with board games. We're working on it.

Well, my night did get better. I found some stories to read online and went to bed in my own bed after a nice mental break (as opposed to the eminent break-down). Today I made pancakes--that went well--and after a brief visit with a neighbor took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese's. That was also nice. Then we got the car washed, and that's when Aidan became a lunatic again. The moon wasn't even out yet.
Right now, the kids are "playing" in the next room and I'll likely have to break it up again in a minute. Note to self: don't bother planning to be a cool mom any time after 4pm. It's over, it's useless, it won't work and you'll just be frustrated. Plan instead to keep them from killing each other and just focus on getting from 4pm to 8:30 with as few injuries as possible. Then watch a movie, read something cool, get laid, have a drink, talk to a friend, or do anything that will remove your brain from the chaos.
