Food Discovery 1.
You're eating breakfast at a diner or in a cafeteria, and you're having a classic large plate -- something with a combination of foods like hash browns, scrambled eggs, waffles, syrup, sausage, bacon, french toast, pancakes, grits...Anyway, you pour syrup on your waffles/french toast/pancakes and it spills over into the eggs ( Read more... )

the other day i went to breakfast with a friend at a cafe in israel, and we couldnt figure out what the honey was for. it wasnt for the bread because then they would have brought it with the jam. it probably wasnt for bulgarian cheese or salad, and we didnt want to think about honey and tuna/salmon either. so we tried the remaining possibility: honey and avocado. "delicious but unnecessary" was the consensus. im realizing now that maybe they meant it for the eggs...? :)

Maybe? I don't think so...I've never heard of anybody putting honey on eggs. But I bet it could be tasty!

That sounds interesting...maybe I will try avocado and honey some time.

it was for the cheese. Sometimes when I order a cheese plate it comes with honey.

Haha I made the same discovery about the syrup and eggs myself some time ago. It's only socially acceptable if the eggs and syrup mix by accident, for some reason you can't just pour syrup directly on the eggs - people look at you funny.

Yep! I always take a piece of french toast alongside my eggs at the cafeteria and then pour a bunch of syrup on it with the least amount of precision I can muster.

heehee :)

this reminds me of how people (mainly americans) thought i was strange for mixing jam into my cottage cheese (obviously in israel, the only place where i find cottage cheese to be edible). its so delicious!! its like eating a bagel with cream cheese and jam.

I love cream cheese and jam on bread.

Also a fan of honey or marmalade with margarine or butter!

And of course a spoon of peanut butter in my breakfast cereal, depending on the type.

Have you ever spread cream cheese on an oreo? Speaking of delicious combinations....

Also, chopped garbanzo beans in savory scrambled eggs. And mustard on meatballs.
