Many church leaders believe gay marriage would represent a further significant step in marginalising traditional religious values in society.
Fixed it for them - 'Many church leaders believe gay marriage would represent a further significant step in marginalising traditional Christian values in society.'
When major cities in Britain celebrate four different festivals [0] roughly around the end of December, we need to stop making 'religious' a synonym for 'Christian'.
[0] Based on the decorations the council put up; Hannukkah, Diwali, Christmas and I think there was one more, but even so, three still proves my point.
I can see both sides of the argument, but I think the thing is that people think of Marriage as "proper", and anything else as not-quite-proper. So in the name of equality "marriage" should be available for all.
I also admire our government for wanting to be in the vanguard of meaningful social change, instead of trailing in last as has happened in the past. We won't be the first, but will be in the first wave. This makes me proud to be British.
