So its math and potential bill time, both things that i'm still learning NOT to avoid. I have to play the game of what my dental plan covers and with who. My old dentist, who i love, is not a preferred and a much farther drive away. There are many preferreds locally, but as i said i love my old one. I have MetLife Dental and my dentist is also not on the preferred list. Oddly enough, I've never had a problem with coverage. My visits are paid for up front. Perhaps your plan is similar? The only time I went with a preferred physician is when I needed surgery (wisdom teeth). And that was rather involved, so I also had to provide them with my health insurance provider. I don't think regular cleanings are an issue -- of course, distance might be in your case.

It looks like the only difference is that the max limit of coverage is lower at a non-preferred for fillings, which is what i'm going in for. I'll check it in my policy this evening. Thanks for the post:)
