If professional is a look you're wanting, I don't think either of these bags project "professional." To me, they say, "student," which I know you are, but truthfully, you have been out and about in the professional world a little bit and should project that aura whenever you go to conferences and such.
But that's just me.
Personally, I would spend a bit more scratch on something that I could use for ages and ages that had a more classic look to it. Something along the lines of the Metropolitan brief or the Logan brief here.
When I finally finish my Master's in December, I will probably buy myself one of those as my grown-up professional bags, since I am planning to make my exit from the classroom into another educational venture where I am sure tote bags with my current university's logo would not be terribly appropriate.
I like the first one. To me, its scholarly and hip. I guess it depends on what kinds of meetings you'll be bringing it to and who you're looking to impress. Aside from a meeting with the CEO of GE or something, you'll be fine. I much prefer an interesting looking bag over the traditional leather briefcase, and I got to a TON of big boring mucky-muck meetings. So, go with what you like and you'll be fine.
