"Well, if you could accuse someone of being downright evil, it would be him!"

"Mum!" Rose cried, blocking her face with her hand in embarrassment. She sank into the chair at the kitchen table and glared at the oversized mug that was set in front of her. "He's not evil!"

"He's got other motives then," Jackie said, sitting down across from her. "He's got to! Why on earth would he be doing with you if he wasn't?"

Rose gaped and gripped the red mug with both hands as she tried to calm down. "Harry's not like that he's..."

"Handsome, rich, yes," Jackie finished with an irritated hand gesture, "but what about Mickey then? What about him, have you thought about that? He's going to be heartbroken you know."

"Why can't you just let me be like anyone else's mother's would?"

Jackie frowned. "Because I'm not anyone else's mother I'm your mother! And this is Harold Saxon we're talking about here, Rose. Harold Saxon!"

"Yes, and you're the one who always wants me to get more money, forget you said that, did you?"

"Is that what this is all about, the money? Oh Rose, you don't have to go out with--"

"Mum, I like Harry," Rose snapped, standing up. The chair slid across the tiled floor with a screech and toppled, "and he likes me and he's waiting just outside the door now if you'll excuse me he's got a press conference in an hour and he wants me there beside him."

"Rose Tyler don't you dare."

"Flip to channel five, mum," Rose threw over her shoulder as she headed towards her bedroom and slammed the door.

"Your mother is an interesting women."

"She likes to think she is, yeah," Rose agreed, tugging consciously at the necklace she was wearing. "Are you sure you ought to be giving me this?"

"You don't like it?" Harry mock pouted, and fluttered his eyelashes.

Rose hit his shoulder. "Git, I love it, but I can't afford to pay you back if I lose it."

"Trust me, losing it should be the least of your worries."

"What?" Rose asked in confusion. She blinked up at him, only to see him smiling down at her. She reached up adjusting his tie for them as they prepared to climb out of the limousine. He pecked her cheek, and clipped her chin playfully.

"Ready, kiddo?"

"I really wish you'd stop calling me that," Rose complained only half in irritation. He leaned over and kissed her softly, then pulled back with a wink and stepped out onto the curb. Offering her a hand which she couldn't refuse, he helped her out of the car and together they went forward into the flashing lights of the camera happy press.
