I've been MIA from pretty much all fandoms for about 9 months due to the addition of a love life. That love life went up in flames a month ago and so i returned to my beloved fanfiction world only to find that its gone to crap in the meantime

FRISTER!!!!! I have missed you. I am so sorry you've fallen into the pit of gender-policing. I personally hate it. It's impossible to participate in any online discussion now that I first have to spend twenty minutes identifying myself as a cisgendered heterosexual woman and then delineate all my various other privileges and apologize for them, by which time I have forgotten whatever point I wanted to make. I do understand the feeling of wanting to make up for all outsider voices being silenced in the past, I really do, but it's gotten a bit out of hand.

I am so sorry that happened. That fandom has really gone to hell and it's gotten out of hand in a big bad way. There's never a ship big enough that you should be alienated from something you like. I don't understand why you would get cis hate for not shipping JohnLock, that's just ridiculous because there's not a trans!issue related to them. If they're calling you cis as a way to try to show you're homophobic, they're being ignorant. And if they're doing it over a stupid non-canon ship, they should go to hell because no one should ever be shamed for being lucky enough to be born in the body they feel like they belong in.
