The Error of My Ways

“to err is human, to forgive divine”; words I just sent to my dear friend who invited me to their house to watch the Super Bowl. I believed the weather report, and declined the invitation; she so kindly brought me some of the goodies she made for us to snack on and restored my wine, (that I whined was “all gone” from yesterday!), and now, an hour ( Read more... )

Thanks Mark, I am always pleased to hear from you. When I wrote that the sun was shining this afternoon, and now the game is over (and I won a bottle of "top shelf" wine, a standing joke of my friend and I), it is snowing and not nice, so I made the right decision after all. Hope things are going good for you, I never did get all through my friends page on the journal to day, had too many distractions. Maybe tomorrow.

I know what you mean about age bringing caution, Faye. I was always so reckless and crazy, and now I am so careful, lest I fall and crack a damn bone. Snowstorms especially scare me, so I'm glad I live where there aren't many, although we have had 2 major earthquakes in the last 6 weeks, one 6.5 and the other 6.1. (I do not like it when the cabin shakes!) I am glad every time I see one of your posts; you give me such hope that I can sail into the storm of age with one half of your courage and grace. Meanwhile, I will lift a glass to you, and remind you that Spring, and the Pasque flowers, are on their way. Old people may travel alone, but thanks to the magic of the internet, we can touch hands.

I know, I try to be so careful and rarely go outside now with all of the ice we have; I even have cleats on my boots. I am not certain just which might be worse, our bad winter, or your earthquakes. I really should not complain because my friends who live in Iowa have it much worse than we do; she told me yesterday they have had 51 inches of snow; another friend lives about a hundred miles from her when I called him he sounds awfully discouraged, with another snow of a couple feet. Glad I am in South Dakota and not the east coast right now.
always good hearing from you...take care, friend.
